Harpers Bazaar Bride Guide

I've got my cranky pants on with a few of the Australian bridal magazines at the moment. Seriously, it's no wonder blogs are replacing them. You see, as much as i love Bride To Be magazine, i get frustrated that its content is all about Sydney and Melbourne. The editorial fashion shoots feature only designers available in the southern cities, the 'Gown guides' should actually read 'Sydney and Melbourne Gown Guide', as should the inspiration pages! They all snub Brisbane (and Perth) brides. Is this because the magazines only feature companies that spend advertising money with them? If so, it's not a true reflection of the Australian wedding industry now is it?

So, i put down my Bride To Be magazine and turn to Queensland Brides magazine. What a big mistake, and a complete waste of money. Queensland Brides is no longer a magazine but instead an advertising catalogue. There are no true editorials, only adver-torials. It's page after page of advertisements... there's no content to the magazine anymore... boring !!

Finally i found something exciting. This month i was delighted to see Harper's Bazaar publish a 'Bazaar Brides' supplement. Why i love it, is because the Brides Guide included nearly all of Australia... a designer from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne (no Perth). But, yay for including Brisbane !! And double yay for it being the King of Bridal Couture... Darb Bridal Couture.

The 'Lori' gown is also the stunning star of Darb's window display this week.

Carla Zampatti

I have a love/hate relationship with the idea of getting married myself. Today, i am seriously glad that i am not planning a wedding. Why? Well, not only would i have trouble choosing my own gown, but when i saw the amazing selection of bridesmaid-worthy dresses at Carla Zampatti, i just died. How is a girl to decide?

Courtney Love is certainly not a celebrity that comes to mind when you are looking for wedding inspiration. However, she pulled off a glamorous and elegant bridal look at the 2011 Elle Style Awards... she looked Courtney Lovely! The glamorous blush, embroidered lace gown was by Givenchy.
