Remember as a child making, and playing, those fortune paper finger games? Well this months edition of Brides Magazine features an elegant, do-it-yourself version for your wedding menu. What a great idea to inject a little imagination and fun to your reception tables.
Step 1: Take a square piece of paper measuring 19cm x 19cm, fold in half and crease. Then fold the four corners into the central crease so they meet in the centre.
Step 2: Write the word 'Menu' horizontally across each triangle.
Step 3: Turn the square over and write your menu in the four corners. Include the three courses and your wine choice or choices.
Step 4: Fold the corners into the centre so the tips touch, then write the courses - Starter, Main, Dessert, Drink - horizontally across the corresponding sections. Fold in half so 'Main, Starter, Dessert and Drink' face inwards, to form a rectangle.
Step 5: Insert thumbs and index fingers under the flaps and pinch together to form peaks. To create multiple menus, photocopy the finished written menu and fold each sheet of paper in the same way.
2 Love Notes:
I actually was thinking of making menus like these for my daughters sweet 16 dinner party last month - in the end I used a vintage adhesive chalkboard and we wrote the menu which was cute too. I'll use your instructions to do it another occasion - maybe for Christmas Dinner for a bit of fun and make them in Christmas colours etc.
That sounds like a great idea to do the finger menus for Christmas. And I looooovvee your idea and what you did with the vintage chalkboards. You've got me thinking even more now... Thanks for writing xx
