Love her or hate her (i happen to love her), Catriona Rowntree has come a long way since her days on Simon Townsend's Wonder World. Like her career, her love story is one of endurance and hard-ship. It's one that gives anyone who is going through a tough and emotional break-up a glimmer of hope.
Catriona's love story reads of her falling in love, breaking-up, then after a year of misery, fate bringing the Getaway tv presenter and her farmer lover, James Pettit, back together.
Catriona describes the year that followed the break-up as a period "I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. When i was alone, I was constantly in tears. It was so difficult... so painful. I loved James and I lost him after being so sure we'd go on and on forever. I figured it was a case of having used up my share of luck. I was blessed with a wonderful family and career, and maybe James was just too much good fortune for one girl."
Then fate intervened and played cupid. It was when James was loading his truck with wool bales and accidentally sat on his cell phone that the couple re-united. Out of all the numbers in his phone, it called Catriona's... the rest as they say is history. Soon after James proposed with a stunning Canturi platinum diamond engagment ring and shared their magical love story and engagement photos in The Australian Women's Weekly.
On April 5, 2008 Catriona Rowntree and James Pettit married at James' old school, Geelong Grammar, followed by a reception on the grounds of their family home in Victoria's western district.
Wearing an Adam Dixon, Champagne duchesse silk satin halter-neck gown, hand beaded with pearl and star-shaped diamantes, Catriona looked every inch the glowing bride. As her 'something old' she wore the three-metre beaded train that her mum wore on her own wedding day 40 years ago. Her 'something blue'... the lining of her custom made Donna-May Bolinger shoes, 'something borrowed'... her 95 year old Grandmothers pearl earrings, and 'something new'... her stunning gown.
After drinks and canapes on the lawn alongside a spectacular blooming rose garden, guests enjoyed a romantic celebration with the newlyweds inside a fairytale marquee. Changing into a Tea Rose gown ready to dance the night away, Catriona was surprised when Leo Sayer, her favourite singer, appeared and sang When I Need You, while outside fireworks lit up the night sky.
In her speech Catriona refer to her and James' year apart "when her heart was broken", she says, "God does have a master plan and if you follow your heart, you can live your dream. Tonight, I am a bride of joy!"
3 Love Notes:
James looks like Marky Mark! Cute.
I am not a fan of Catriona Rowntree but I did love the styling of her wedding and her home is lovely too.
